Salernitana

After surviving by the slightest of margins last season, Salernitana have taken full advantage of their second chance in the top flight this season.

The visitors began their league campaign with disappointing losses in the Coppa Italia and Serie A. But since then they have rallied, to record two draws and one win in their last three games.

And so they come into this tie unbeaten in three games and with clear momentum in their favour. They have lost just two of their last 12 league games and will fancy their chances of recording another huge home win after their 4-0 drubbing of Sampdoria on this ground last time out.

Possible Salernitana starting line-up

Luigi Sepe; Dylan Bronn, Federicoo Fazio, Norbert Mazzocchi; Antonio Candreva, Lassana Coulibaly, Giulio Maggiore, Tonny Vilhena, Pasquale Mazzocchi; Boulaye Dia, Federico Bonazzoli.

Injured: Emil Bohinen, Matteo Lovato, Ivan Radovanovic, Franck Ribery

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Empoli

Like their hosts, Empoli come into this game without a loss in three league games.

After opening their campaign with a loss, they have put together a run of three draws, with their last outing a 1-1 draw with Verona.

Considering they scored first in the last two matches, they will have to sort their defending to achieve greater things this year. But it’s clearly a lack of goal-scoring threat that is hindering their progression, something highlighted by failing to score more than a single goal in eight of their last nine matches.

Also, Empoli’s away form does little to inspire confidence as well, considering they’ve won only one of their last 14 away matches (D6, L7). Perhaps Manager Paolo Zanetti will recognise taking a break over the weekend is a blessing, since his side have lost only once in their last five matches played on a Monday (W3, D1).

Possible Empoli starting line-up

Guglielmo Vicario; petar Stojanovic, Sebastiano Luperto, Ardian Ismajli, Fabiano Parisi; Nicolas Haas, Alberto Grasssi, Filippo Bandinelii, Liam Henderson; Sam Lammers, Martin Striano.

Injured: Lorenzo Tonelli, Nicolo Cambiaghi

Doubtful: Tommaso Baldanzi

Suspended: None
