The Rossoneri have defeated Bologna at San Siro.

AC Milan have made a winning start to the season after defeating Bologna 2-0 at San Siro.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic produced a splendid performance as he scored a winning brace.

Milan were rampant from the off, which paid dividends right before the half-time. Ibrahimovic buried a header after an excellent cross from the left-back Theo Hernandez.

Ibrahimovic also had denied a shot in the second half before netting a penalty to double the lead for Milan.

The Swedish striker has been in fine form post the COVID break, which also saw him extend his stay at San Siro for another year. He racked up a total of 11 goals and 5 assists in all competition last season and also scored in Milan’s Europa League qualifying game against Shamrock Rovers last week.

The visitors were serene throughout the game however they came close to scoring on a few occasions in the second half. Gianluigi Donnarumma forced a save by Andreas Skov Olsen and Silvestri hit the crossbar once.

Sandro Tonali made his first appearance for Milan when he came in as a late substitute for Franck Kessie.

Stefano Pioli enjoyed a late flourish in Serie A last season and has now started the campaign in the best possible way.

Pioli offered his thoughts on the win: “The match presented many pitfalls for the aggressiveness of our opponents. We were a team, until the second goal I liked the team in everything. Then we stopped playing, and the match reopened, we must carry on our concepts and our ideas until the final whistle.

“Now the team has its own identity. We have confidence and quality; we are aware of having players who can make the winning move at any time. The team can obviously grow and the newcomers too.”
