Newcastle United interested in Barkley

Newcastle United are considering a summer swoop for Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley.

The English midfielder moved to Aston Villa on loan last season after running out of game time at Stamford Bridge.

However, he endured a fluctuating campaign at Villa last season, especially when his progress withered after a hamstring injury.

The former Everton star could be shown exit doors at Stamford Bridge this summer, with manager Thomas Tuchel deeming him surplus to requirements.

The Magpies are interested in the services of the 25-year-old as Steve Bruce looks to bolster the squad ahead of next season.

Trevor Sinclair suggests Man City should sign Tammy Abraham over Harry Kane

Manchester City appears to be hellbent on signing Tottenham striker Harry Kane this summer and are said to have made a whopping 100m pounds offer.

However, Spurs are holding out on the 27-year-old as chairman Daniel Levy wants to keep him beyond this summer.

Now, former Citizens midfielder Trevor Sinclair has suggested that Pep Guardiola should sign the Blues striker Tammy Abraham over Kane.

Sinclair said: “I still don’t understand why Tammy Abraham is not being given the opportunity,”

“For me, he’s a top Premier League striker, he’s proved that he’s a goalscorer, and the bits to his game that he might not have, surely Thomas Tuchel is a good enough coach to get him to do them for the team.”

“I would have him at Manchester City. I think he’s a young enough player, and with Pep’s (Guardiola) coaching ability and with the teammates around him… I think he’s a top player, I really do.”

Abraham has been linked with a move to Arsenal after falling down the pecking order of Tuchel.
