Inter Milan eyeing a £25m move for French striker Marcus Thuram

Marcus Thuram-Gladbach

Inter are looking to replace Lukaku with Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram.

Inter Milan are reportedly maximising their efforts to sign Borussia Monchengladbach forward Marcus Thuram, son of former footballer Liliam Thuram.

The Nerazzurri are hectic in their search for a new striker following Romelu Lukaku’s departure to Chelsea and have identified Thuram as a top target.

Serie A champions Inter have been keeping tabs on Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne but their offer of 15m euros proved too little for Partenopei.

In addition, Joaquin Correa and Duvan Zapan are understood to be on Inter’s radar, with the former being chased by Juventus and Everton.

Thuram has been cited as a feasible option and the report also states that Inter can seal the deal for 25m pounds, having already seen an offer worth 20m pounds turned down by Gladbach.

The 24-year-old burst onto the scene after an impressive 2019/20 season in which he collected 10 goals and 8 assists in Bundesliga. He also fared well the following season, eventually earning a maiden call-up to the France national team for Euro 2020.

Now, Thuram is said to be looking to leave Gladbach after two seasons as he wants to take the next big step of his career.

The French forward is versatile and can be deployed either as a striker or a winger on both sides.

Furthermore, Thuram is very much used to the two-striker formation at Gladbach, forming a productive partnership with Alassane Plea.

It could be an added advantage for Inter, who are likely to play in the 3-5-2 formation under new manager Simone Inzaghi.
