Roma identify Mauro Icardi as Edin Dzeko’s replacement

AS Roma have identified PSG striker Mauro Icardi as Edin Dzeko's replacement. Dzeko signed for Inter Milan as Lukaku is moving back to Chelsea.

Roma striker Edin Dzeko is thought to be heading to Inter Milan as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, and the Italian outfit have now identified Mauro Icardi as a target to replace the Bosnian.

Dzeko has already agreed on personal terms with the Italian champions.

Icardi has had a tough time at Paris Saint-Germain, and the Argentine striker has not been able to live up to the expectations since his move to France.

The player has been linked with a return to Serie A or Italy, and a move to Roma could be ideal for him.

Jose Mourinho needs to improve his attacking options this summer, and if Icardi can recapture his peak form, he could prove to be an outstanding addition.

The Argentine was one of the best strikers in the world during his time at Inter Milan, and there is no reason why he cannot recapture his confidence and sharpness.

Icardi needs to join a club where he can play regularly. Moise Kean was often picked ahead of him at PSG, and the Argentine never quite managed to get into a rhythm.

The Argentine scored 13 goals and picked up six assists in 28 appearances for PSG last term.

At Roma, he will be the first choice striker to lead the line once Dzeko has moved on.

Furthermore, a top-class manager like Jose Mourinho can help the player rediscover his form. The striker is still only 28, and he has his best years ahead of him.
