Sampdoria 1–2 Milan: Milan stay undefeated after goals from Kessie, Castillejo

Rebic-Kessie-AC Milan

Milan have continued their winning run in Serie A after a 2-1 win against Sampdoria.

AC Milan have edged out Sampdoria 2-1 in the weekend’s Serie A clash as Franck Kessie and Samu Castillejo were among the scoresheet.

Sampdoria entered into the game with the idea of thwarting Milan’s unbeaten run and wanted to build on their 2-2 draw against Torino in the previous fixture.

However, the hosts surrendered the lead to Milan at the brink of the half-time after the referee spotted a handball from Jankto inside the penalty area. Franck Kessie stepped up and converted the penalty successfully to give his side the lead.

With the game entering the final quarter, Samu Castillejo doubled the lead for the visitors after he was teed up by Ante Rebic. The Spanish winger has found the scoresheet for the second consecutive game as he also had scored against Celtic in the midweek Europa League fixture.

Sampdoria responded with a goal from Albin Ekdal in the 82nd minute, but it wasn’t enough for them to stop Stefano Pioli’s side.

Following a thumping 4-2 win days ago in the Europa League against Celtic, Milan were victorious against Claudio Ranieri’s side. Furthermore, Milan haven’t been rivalled by any of the fellow clubs so far as they currently sit at the top of the Serie A table with no defeats.

Rossoneri suffered their only defeat of the season against Lille in the Europa League group stage.
