Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen will look to get just their second win of the season when teeth host Atletico Madrid in the Bay Arena on Tuesday.

Gerardo Seoane’s team have been abysmal this season and are winless in their last three games. Die Werkself lost their opening Champions League game to Club Brugge last week and followed that up with a draw at home to Hoffenheim.

With both Club Brugge and Atletico Madrid claiming victories last week, Bayer Leverkusen will be under pressure to get a win to keep their hopes of qualification alive.

Gerardo Seoane will be hoping that his team can turn their season around with a win against Diego Simeone’s side with the home crowd cheering them on. However, a win against the Spanish team does not come cheaply for the Germans, as they had to wait four years to record their first win over five legs against the Spaniards, who claimed three wins in those encounters, with one draw.

Possible Bayer Leverkusen starting line-up

Lukas Hradecky; Jeremie Frimpong, Edmond Tapsoba, Jonathan Tah, Mitchel Bakker; Robert Andrich, Robert Andrich; Kerem Demirbay, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Moussa Diaby; Patrik Schick.

Injured: Amine Adli, Florian Wirtz, Karim Bellarabi, Andrey Lunev

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid romped to a 4-1 win over Celta Vigo last weekend with goals from Angel Correa, Yannick Carrasco, Rodrigo De Paul and an own-goal from Unai Nunez ensuring that Diego Simeone’s side kept within touching distance of the top four.

Rojiblancos currently top Group B on goal difference after beating FC Porto in their opening game last week. A die-minute goal from Antoine Griezmann ensured that the spoils were not shared at the Wanda Metropolitano after Mateus Uribe had cancelled out Mario Hermoso’s opening goal for the Capital Club.

Diego Simeone’s men are tipped as favourites to progress to the next round as group champions, but a tricky test awaits the Spanish team in Germany.

With the heroics of Antoine Griezmann against Porto, it will be interesting to see if Diego Simeone will hand the Frenchman his first start of the season despite the wishes of the Club hierarchy who do not wish to activate the automatic buyout clause inserted into his loan deal, by keeping the striker on the bench.

Possible Atletico Madrid starting line-up

Ivo Grbic; Nahuel Molina Lucero, Mario Hermoso, Reinildo, Axel Witsel, Yannick Carrasco; Geoffrey Kondogbia, Rodrigo De Paul, Thomas Lemar; Joao Felix, Alvaro Morata.

Injured: Stefan Savic, Sergio Reguilon, Jose Gimenez

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
