AC Milan 1-1 Red Star: Italian giants through to next round on away goals

Zlatan Ibrahimovic-AC Milan

AC Milan managed to book their place in the round of 16 of the Europa League after a 1-1 draw against Red Star earlier tonight.

The first leg between the two sides finished 2-2 and Milan are through on away goals.

The Italian outfit were favourites coming into this game but the fans will be disappointed with the performance of the players.

The home side were vulnerable at the back and they struggled to create too many chances either.

Franck Kessie and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were probably the best players on the pitch for the home side. Kessie scored the opening goal of the game from the penalty spot and the defensive midfielder worked hard throughout the game.

Meanwhile, Ibrahimovic came on as a substitute and added some much needed attacking quality and energy to the side. He managed to create an important chance for Ante Rebic but the Croatian failed to find his scoring touch.

It seems that Milan have regressed after their impressive run of form last year. They have been putting in inconsistent performance over the past few weeks and it will be interesting to see if they can recapture their form in the near future.

As for Red Star, Ben Nabouhane got his side back on level terms in the first half but the visitors failed to capitalise on that and secure a win here.

Marko Gobeljic was sent off for a rash challenge on the 70th minute but the visitors managed to grind out a draw despite being down to 10 men.
