Netherlands have announced the provisional squad for the upcoming Euro 2020.

The Oranje manager Frank De Boer announced the squad a few days back, and the list includes a few surprises.

Aston Villa winger Anwar El Ghazi was included in the list after an impressive season at the Midland club that saw him score eight times from the wing. He won the last of his two senior caps in 2015.

Meanwhile, despite a poor season at Manchester United, midfielder Donny van de Beek was also included in the squad, and he is set to line up alongside fellow Premier League midfielder and current team captain Georginio Wijnaldum.

The big news from the announcement is that there is no room for veteran attacker Arjen Robben who declared himself available for this tournament.

Elsewhere, Liverpool defender and Dutch skipper Virgil van Dijk is not included after the defender ruled himself out the selection to focus on rehabilitation from a season-ending injury suffered in October last year.

Goalkeepers:

Marco Bizot (AZ), Jasper Cillessen (Valencia), Tim Krul (Norwich), Maarten Stekelenburg (Ajax).

Defenders:

Patrick van Aanholt (Crystal Palace), Nathan Ake (Manchester City), Daley Blind (Ajax), Denzel Dumfries (PSV), Hans Hateboer (Atalanta), Rick Karsdorp (Roma), Matthijs de Ligt (Juventus), Jeremiah St. Juste (Mainz), Kenny Tete (Fulham), Jurrien Timber (Ajax), Joël Veltman (Brighton), Stefan de Vrij (Inter Milan), Owen Wijndal (AZ).

Midfielders:

Donny van de Beek (Manchester United), Ryan Gravenberch (Ajax), Frenkie de Jong (Barcelona), Davy Klaassen (Ajax), Teun Koopmeiners (AZ), Marten de Roon (Atalanta), Tonny Vilhena (Krasnodar), Georginio Wijnaldum (Liverpool).

Forwards:

Steven Berghuis (Feyenoord), Steven Bergwijn (Tottenham), Anwar El Ghazi (Aston Villa), Cody Gakpo (PSV), Luuk de Jong (Sevilla), Donyell Malen (PSV), Memphis Depay (Lyon), Quincy Promes (Spartak Moskva), Wout Weghorst (Wolfsburg).

The manager is expected to cut down the squad to the acceptable 26 men, meaning that eight names will be removed from the current list. It remains to be seen who will make the final cut.
