Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement with Leeds United for the signing of teenager Brooklyn Nfonkeu.

The teenage winger has been impressive for the Whites’ U15 set-up, drawing interest from top clubs.

However, City have managed to secure a deal for Nfonkeu, who has been at Elland Road around three years after moving from Wortley Football club.

City want to build on their fruitful relationship with Leeds after recently letting their academy star Jack Harrison join Marcelo Bielsa’s side permanently after successive loan spells.

Although the Premier League champions haven’t seen much of their academy stars move into the first team in recent years, except in the case of Phil Foden, there are a handful of players like Brahim Diaz and Jadon Sancho. They had a more significant impact elsewhere.

Despite not getting enough minutes at Real Madrid following his transfer from Etihad, Diaz enjoyed a productive loan spell at AC Milan last season and quickly became a fan-favourite. The Spanish youngster has recently extended his loan spell at Rossoneri.

Sancho also moved to Borussia Dortmund years ago, and in no time, he has become one of the talented wingers in Europe. The bitter fact is that he will be representing City’s rivals Manchester United from next season.

Nfonkeu could follow the footsteps of Foden, whose premature talent was spotted by manager Pep Guardiola and now is seen as one of the most coveted players of England.
