Ronaldo and Ramos cross paths for the first time in two years

The duo hasn’t been in contact for the past two years.

It comes as a bit of a surprise that Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos haven’t spoken to each other since the former one left Real Madrid for good in 2018.

Both used to be friends for nearly a decade at Santiago Bernabeu, enjoying a flurry of trophies together.

However, following Ronaldo’s exit to Juventus, coupled with his strange reaction to Luka Modric winning the Ballon d’Or, caused a rift among the relationship between the Portuguese star and Ramos.

Ronaldo’s reaction when he lost the Ballon d’Or award:

‘Of course, I’m disappointed, but life goes on and I will continue to work hard.

‘On the pitch, I’ve done everything to win the Ballon d’Or, numbers do not lie, but I’m no less happy if I do not win, I have wonderful friends and a family, I play in one of the best clubs.

Congratulations to Modric, who has earned the award, but next year we will meet again and I will do everything to win the prize again.

‘Do you think I’m going home and crying?’

Their friendship was further doubted when Ramos opted not to call Ronaldo to his star-studded wedding last year.

After two long years, both the players finally crossed paths as Spain and Portugal competed in the friendlies. Although the Real Madrid skipper started the game from bench, he was able to meet Ronaldo and another former team-mate Pepe in the locker room post-match.

Ramos took to Instagram to share the picture while writing: ‘We’re still around… and there’s more to come! Happy to see you, my friends.’

The Spanish centre-back was also seen holding the shirt of Ronaldo in the picture.
