Saudi Arabia and Euro winners Italy could jointly host the World Cup 2030

Saudi Arabia reportedly have the idea of co-hosting World Cup 2030 with Italy, who recently won the European Championship title.

FIFA confirmed Schedule for Qatar World Cup 2022

The slot for the World Cup 2030 hosts is up for grabs as countries have been throwing their bids.

Countries across the world have been submitting their bids to host the FIFA World Cup 2030, with Saudi Arabia being the latest to show interest.

Saudi reportedly have the idea of co-hosting the tournament with Italy, who recently won the European Championship title.

Joint bids have been highly successful, and perhaps, the 2026 World Cup will be hosted by the USA, Canada and Mexico.

US-based global consultancy firm Boston Consultancy Group is said to be backing the Saudi Arabians financially, advising them to team up with their neighbours Egypt and Morocco.

However, there would be a hindrance in that as both Egypt and Morocco will be required to improve their infrastructure, and hence the idea of teaming up with Italians looks like a better option.

There is some competition along the way for Saudi as both Spain and Portugal have the backing of UEFA to host the tournament in 2030.

Countries from Asia (AFC) and North and Central America ( Concacaf) will not be allowed to submit their bids since Qatar – a member of AFC) – will host the following year’s World Cup, and the North American nations follow up in 2026.

Italian Football Federation’s President Gabriele Gravina said: “We will evaluate an Italian candidacy for the 2028 European Championship and the World Cup of 2030, in which the centenary of the world championship is celebrated.”

England or any other joint bids from FA countries could lose credibility following the fan trouble in Euro 2020 finals at Wembley.

Saudi and Italy partnership has raised concerns over the distance between the two, but that was the case in the recently concluded European Championship, with two of the hosting cities, Baku and London, sharing a longer distance as well.
