UEFA Nations League: France held to a goalless draw by Portugal

UEFA Nations League Griezmann, Giroud on target in six-goal 'France vs Croatia' thriller

Mbappe and Ronaldo failed to shine in the Nations League clash.

France have been held to a stalemate by Ronaldo-led Portugal side in the Nations League clash at Stade de France.

The hosts started the game on the front foot as they came close to scoring in the first half, with Pogba’s header going wide.

France looked more dangerous in the second period as they kept the opposition defenders busy throughout. However, their chances went begging due to their inefficiency in the final third.

Paul Pogba and Antoine Griezmann were impressive for the entirety of the game but it was a bit off night for Kylian Mbappe.

The PSG star tried his best to find his name on the scoresheet but his efforts went in vain.

Same goes to Cristiano Ronaldo, who was hardly involved in the game. The Juventus ace missed a chance at the start of the second half while his strike was denied by Hugo Lloris in the injury time. Perhaps, it was the closest chance for the visitors but the French Skipper had other ideas.

Bruno Fernandes couldn’t influence the game as his Manchester United teammate Pogba and Joao Felix hardly had his moments.

The only goal of the game came from Portugal in the later period of the second half, that too was disallowed as offside.

Portugal have picked up back to back draws in a week, with their previous one coming against Spain.

Meanwhile, France would be livid with the result after thrashing Ukraine in their previous encounter.
