The Spanish teenager wins the prestigious award by a landslide.

Barcelona midfielder Pedri has been bestowed with the Golden Boy award for 2021.

The 18-year-old has been considered the favourite to win the award following a stellar campaign for both club and country.

Pedri became an integral part of the Blaugrana last season, starring in almost every single game.

His impressive form soon caught the attention of Spanish national team coach Luis Enrique, who started the teenager in every game for Euro 2020.

Pedri was impressive throughout the campaign for La Roja, who ended up as the semi-finalists.

The former Las Palmas star has won the Golden Boy award with a historic margin, 199 points clear of second-place Jude Bellingham, reveals Tutto Sport, the Italian outlet which presents the award.

Pedri also becomes the first Barca star to win the Golden Boy award after club legend Lionel Messi.

The Blaugrana teenager said (Barca Blaugranes): “I thank Tuttosport for this trophy which makes me proud. Thanks also to all the members of the jury and the fans who have always supported me in this simply incredible 2021 for me.

“And of course, many thanks to Barça, the national team, my family, my friends and obviously to all those who have been close to me day after day without whom I would not have been able to win the Golden Boy.”

The Catalan giants recently extended the contract of Pedri until 2026 while inserting a release clause worth 1 billion euros.
