Netherlands
The Netherlands will look to book the quarter-finals phase of the 2022 FIFA World Cup when they take on the United States in Doha on Saturday.
The Oranje eased into the last 16 by beating hosts Qatar 2-0 last Tuesday. Goals from Cody Gakpo, who became the fourth Dutchman after Johan Neeskens, Dennis Bergkamp and Wesley Sneijder to net in three consecutive World Cup fixtures and Frenkie de Jong gave them maximum points in the game.
The win made it 18 games without defeat for Holland (W13, D5) who will be confident of winning this game after an impressive group stage where they finished top of their group.
Finding the net has been no problem for Louis van Gaal’s side, who have scored in their last 18 games. But having lost at this stage of last year’s European Championship, they’ll want to put those bad memories behind them as they prepare for a first-ever competitive H2H against the USA (Friendlies: W4, L1).
Possible Netherlands starting line-up
Andries Noppert, Jurrien Timber, Virgil Van Dijk, Nathan Aké, Denzel Dumfries, Teun Koopmeiners, Frenkie De Jong, Daley Blind, Cody Gakpo, Memphis Depay, Steven Bergwijn.

Doubtful: None

USA
The United States Men’s National Team booked their place in this round of the World Cup thanks to a 1-0 win over Iran last time out.
Having drawn both Wales (1-1) and England (0-0), they come into this tie unbeaten in the World Cup this campaign. However, they only scored twice in those three games and could struggle to break down a tight Dutch backline that has kept four clean sheets in their last five games.
However, one edge they can claim over their opponents is ample recent experience of winning knockout games, having produced three straight 1-0 wins to claim last year’s Gold Cup.
Having held England to a 0-0 draw in the group stage, this youthful USMNT squad, many of whom should feature when they co-host in 2026, should come into this fixture with renewed belief that they can compete with Europe’s finest.
Possible USA starting line-up
Matt Turner, Sergino Dest, Walker Zimmerman, Tim Ream, Antonee Robinson, Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie, Yunus Musah, Timothy Weah, Haji Wright, Brendan Aaronson.
Injured: Christian Pulisic
Doubtful: None
Suspended: None
