Leeds United promoted to Premier League as champions

Leeds secured promotion to the Premier League last night after West Brom’s 2-1 defeat to Huddersfield. 

Marcelo Bielsa’s men are now five points clear at the top of they will be looking to win the Championship. 

Leeds have been in spectacular form all season and they have been rewarded for their hardwork.

Before the arrival of Bielsa, they finished in the bottom half is six of their last seven seasons. The Argentine has worked wonders with the Whites since joining the club.

Leeds fell short of promotion last season but they have managed to get the job done with two games to spare this time. 

After 16 years of absence, Leeds are now back to where they belong and it will be interesting to see how they adapt to the Premier League next season.

Marcelo Bielsa will be hoping to restore them to their former status. 

Leeds’ playing style could be a welcome addition to the Premier League next season. The Whites play a high tempo attacking football and they could surprise a few teams. 

The Whites must now concentrate on getting their transfers right. They need a deeper squad to compete in the Premier League and Bielsa will need backing in the transfer market.

Leeds will have to bring in a reliable goalscorer first. Patrick Bamford cannot be relied upon every week. 

After the promotion, Leeds ace Kalvin Phillips heaped praise on manager Marcelo Bielsa. 

He said: “We’re ecstatic. Promotion means everything. There’s no manager I’d rather be under than Marcelo Bielsa. He’s the best in the world.”
