Adelaide United

Adelaide United will look to get back to winning ways in the league when they face Melbourne Victory this Saturday.

The hosts were lucky to come out with a 1-1 draw with Melbourne Victory last time out with a 91st minute Craig Goodwin goal salvaging a point for them after D’Agostino had put the defending champions ahead in the 84th minute.

The result made it two games without a win for the visitors who had lost to Melbourne Victory in the FFA Cup before their latest draw.

Carl Veart’s side currently occupy the seventh place in the league table after taking just seven points from their opening seven games (W1, D4, L2). Their one point per league game average so far this season is only better than Brisbane Roar (0.25 per game) and Wellington Phoenix (0.67 goals per game).

They will hope to better that point tally by picking up a win in this game.

Melbourne City

Melbourne City and WS Wanderers could not be separated after 90 minutes last Sunday as both teams played out an entertaining 3-3 draw in their league game.

WS Wanderers took an early lead in the game through James Troisi and Jack Rodwell, who both scored within the first nine minutes. But Melbourne City struck back within 16th minutes through an own goal by Dimitrios Petratos, before Jamie Maclaren completed the comeback for City. After the restart substitute Marco Tilo thought he had won the game for Melbourne City after he found the corner in the 60th minute. But Keijiro Ogawa scored in the 68th minute to seal a draw for WS Wanderers.

The result means that Patrick Kisnorbo’s men come into this tie sitting in fifth place, four points behind Melbourne Victory who are leading the league at the moment.

They can climb into the top three if they win this game by a decent margin and results elsewhere goes in their favour.
