Sydney FC

Sydney FC will look to beat Brisbane Roar for the second time in three days when both teams meet at the Jubilee Oval this weekend.

Both teams are meeting for the second time this week, after facing each other last Wednesday in the FFA Cup quarter-finals at the Leichhardt Oval. Sydney won that game 1-0 to book their place in the next round, thanks to a 63rd-minute strike from Elvis Kamsoba.

The win was the Sky Blues third win in a row following a 2-1 league win over Wellington Phoenix and a 3-0 away win over Macarthur FC last Boxing Day.

The hosts are currently in sixth place in the league table having won two of their opening six games (D2, L2) so far this season.

A win in this game will keep their quest for a top-six finish alive while a loss will be damaging to their morale.

Possible Sydney FC starting line-ups

Andrew Redmayne; Joel King, Ben Warland, Alex Wilkinson, Rhyan Grant; Anthony Caceres, Paulo Retre, Elvis Kamsoba, Milos Ninkovic; Trent Buhagiar, Bobo.

Injured: Luke Brattan, Michael Zullo, Connor O’Toole, Kosta Barbarouses, Chris Zuvela

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Brisbane Roar

Brisbane Roar will be desperate to avenge their FFA Cup loss to their hosts when they travel to the capital for the second time this week.

The Bulls have been woeful this season, and come into this game as the only side without a league win. Although this is in part because they have played only four games this season (alongside Perth Glory) because of a Covid-19 outbreak in their squad.

They return to the league after over a month’s absence, looking to pick up their first win of the new season. The visitors’ last league game was in December against Western United who beat them 1-0.

They have not scored in their last four games in all competitions and will be desperate to find the back of the net for the first time since November 19th when they scored one in a 2-1 loss against Melbourne City.

Possible Brisbane Roar starting line-ups

Macklin Freke; Nicholas Olsen, Kai Trewin, Scott Neville, Jack Hingert; Jesse Daley, Ville Matti Steinman; Jay O’Shea, Alex Parsons, Nikola Mileusnic; Cyrus Dehmie.

Injured: None

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
