Barcelona eyeing a sensational swoop for Manchester City star Ferran Torres

The Spaniard is reportedly interested in moving to the Nou Camp.

Rumours have been circulating of late that Barcelona are considering a swoop for Manchester City forward Ferran Torres.

According to The Athletic, the Catalans are exploring the options to sign the Spanish international in January.

It is also added that Barca executives Mateu Alemany and Ferran Reverter were at Man City’s training ground on Friday, possibly for business meetings.

Torres moved to Etihad from Valencia last year for a reported fee of £21m.

The 21-year-old enjoyed a prolific campaign in Euro 2020 with the Spanish national team that reached the semi-finals.

Torres, who has netted 2 goals and 1 assist in 4 games with the Sky Blues this season, is currently recovering from the foot injury he picked up last month.

The young forward is understood to be not happy with the limited role at Man City and he is open to joining Barca, as he believes he could play a more prominent role at the Nou Camp.

However, Man City would want Barca to pay double the fee they did for Valencia last year.

Barca are currently financially deprived and would need to offload several players to generate funds.

New manager Xavi is keen on attacking reinforcements and has identified Torres’ Man City team-mate Raheem Sterling as another potential target.

Despite being a winger by trade, Torres has recently excelled in the role of false 9 for both Spain and Man City.

The former Los Che star would be a great addition to the Catalans but it remains to be seen whether they can afford his transfer fee in the middle of a financial crisis.
