Marseille

Ten times Ligue 1 title winners Marseille have begun the season poorly, setting themselves up for a must-win match against PSG on Sunday.

They come into this tie on the back of a disappointing stalemate with Lazio in the Europa League on Thursday.

With Copa America-winning coach Jorge Sampaoli in the dugout, the hosts were expected to challenge PSG for the title this season. But they already find themselves ten points behind after ten rounds of matches.

Although they have a game in hand, having played nine times, they are in danger of falling 13 points behind the leaders if they fail to win this game.

However, their form heading into this tie suggests that they are most likely to drop points as they have won just once in the last six games.

They have also been poor in front of goal recently, failing to score in four out of six games but boasting six goals in that period.

They will aim to take maximum points in this game and put themselves back in the frame for the title.

Meanwhile, coach Jorge Sampaoli has no injury worries heading into this tie.

Possible Marseille starting line-ups

Steve Mandanda, William Saliba, Duje Caleta-Car, Leonardo Balerdi, Gerson, Boubacar Kamara, Pol Lirola, Matteo Guendouzi, Dimitri Payet, Konrad de la Fuente, Arkadiusz Milik.

PSG

PSG came from behind to defeat RB Leipzig in the Champions League in midweek and in the process extended their winning run to two games.

The Parisians were shocked by Rennes early this month but have so far recovered to record back-to-back wins.

Their aim will now be to make it three on the bounce as they look to steer clear at the top of the Ligue 1 table.

Lionel Messi and co. have scored an incredible 30 goals in 14 games to make them one of the most dominant sides in Europe this season.

They will fancy their chances of adding some goals to their already robust tally while picking up maximum points in this game.

But Mauricio Pochettino will likely have to travel to Southern France without the services of star strikers Mauro Icardi and Neymar. Sérgio Ramos also remains sidelined with an injury while Argentine midfielder Leandro Paredes is unlikely to be fit in time for the game.

Meanwhile, Marco Verratti will miss the game through suspension.

Possible Paris Saint-Germain starting line-ups

Gianluigi Donnarumma, Achraf Hakimi, Marquinhos, Presnel Kimpembe, Nuno Mendes, Georginio Wijnaldum, Idrissa Gueye, Marco Verratti, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, Julian Draxler.

Prediction

Although both teams are historically tied in the number of wins in this fixture (32 each), PSG are currently the better side and have the firepower to win this game on Sunday.
