Liverpool Injury Update: Latest on Thiago Alcantara, Joel Matip, Naby Keita

Liverpool sweep Chelsea aside as Thiago sets passing record in 2-0 win

Liverpool have been plagued with injuries this season but it seems that the Reds might be in for some much-needed injury boosts in the coming weeks.

According to the latest reports, the likes of Naby Keita Joel Matip and Thiago Alcantara could be back in action soon.

Naby Keita was absent against Fulham at the weekend but the midfielder was involved in extended warm-up earlier this week and he could be in contention to play against Tottenham later tonight.

Klopp said: “Naby was yesterday involved in the extended warming up, I would say. There is another session today and we will have to see how he reacts and then we will have to make a decision about that.”

Joel Matip picked up a back injury against Fulham but it is not thought to be a serious problem and the defender could return to action soon.

Klopp added: “The physios worked pretty much 24 hours on him [Matip], so we will see. Today we have another session and then we will see.”

As far as Thiago Alcantara is considered, The Spanish international is expected to return to training later this month and therefore he should be available for selection early next month.

The Spaniard has been absent since his appearance against Everton earlier this season. He picked up a serious knee injury after a reckless challenge from Everton striker Richarlison.

Meanwhile, Diogo Jota, James Milner, Xherdan Shaqiri are still in their recovery phase and they are not expected back in the next few weeks. Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez are long term absentees.

The Reds have managed to stay in the title race despite their injury problems and Jurgen Klopp will be looking to improve further when his key players are back in the coming weeks.
