Borussia Dortmund

Borussia Dortmund will look to get back to winning ways when they welcome Stuttgart to their iconic home.

The hosts come into this game on the back of a 2-1 loss to RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga. Goals from French striker Christopher Nkunku and Danish striker Yussuf Poulsen ensured victory for RB Leipzig with Marco Reus’ second-half goal serving as just a consolation for Marco Rose’s side who are struggling with injuries.

Despite their recent loss, the home team are still sitting in second place, four points behind table-toppers Bayern Munich.

They will be desperate to get a win here and avoid falling further behind Bayern Munich, who are daring to run away with the league.

Meanwhile, Marco Rose will be without star striker Erling Braut Haaland, right-back Mateu Morey, Giovanni Reyna, Marcel Schmelzer and Nico Schulz.

There are also doubts over the availability of midfielders Emre Can and Mahmoud Dahoud, while Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel, winger Marius Wolf and Portuguese left-back Raphael Guerreiro are also injury doubts.

Possible Borussia Dortmund starting line-ups

Marwin Hitz, Marin Pongracic, Manuel Akanji, Mats Hummels, Thomas Meunier, Axel Witsel, Jude Bellingham, Thorgan Hazard, Julian Brandt, Marco Reus, Donyell Malen.

Injured: Erling Haaland, Morey, Reyna, Schmelzer.

Doubtful: Emre Can, Dahoud, Moukoko, Schulz, Wolf, Zagadou.

VfB Stuttgart

Stuttgart will also look to get back to winning ways after suffering a 1-0 to Frank Kramer’s Arminia Bielefeld in the league before the international break. A first-half goal from Japanese midfielder Masaya Okugawa secured the win for Arminia Bielefeld and condemned Stuggart to their fifth loss of the season.

Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side are in danger of relegation as they are sitting in 15th place, just one point ahead of Augsburg who occupy 16th place.

They will be desperate to pick up points in this game and ensure that they don’t get dragged completely into a relegation fight early in the season.

Meanwhile, the visitors will be without Austrian striker Sasa Kalajdzic, young French midfielder Enzo Millot and Dutch striker Mohamed Sankoh. There are also doubts over the availability of centre-back Marc-Oliver Kempf, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Omar Marmoush, Naouirou Ahamada, Erik Thommy and Hamadi Al Ghaddioui.

Possible Stuttgart starting line-ups

Fabian Bredlow, Waldemar Anton, Hiroki Ito, Clinton Mola, Tanguy Coulibaly, Atakan Karazor, Wataru Endo, Borna Sosa, Orel Mangala, Daniel Didavi, Roberto Massimo.

Injured: Kalajdzic , Millot

Doubtful: Ahamada, Führich, Thommy.
