Borussia Dortmund continued their late surge in Bundesliga with an emphatic 3-1 win against Leverkusen on the final matchday. Once again, Erling Haaland rose to the occasion with a double, and Marco Reus also found the nets. Leverkusen pulled one from Lars Benders’ penalty, but it was too late as Dortmund picked up three comprehensive points. Here are the three talking points.

Haaland scores 10th double of Bundesliga this season

We are lost for words to describe how phenomenal Erling Haaland is. Week in and week out, the Norwegian continues to amaze us with his uncanny ability to find the nets consistently. He has racked up more than 40 goals in all competitions this season and racked up 14 doubles – out of 10 were in the Bundesliga. It is yet another ridiculous stat Haaland can be happy about. Furthermore, Haaland averages a goal per game this season, and only a few are ahead of him in that regard.

Edin Terzic winds up the season on a high note

Interim coach Edin Terzic has had a difficult start to life at Dortmund after replacing Lucian Favre. Terzic did spur a lot of criticism for a string of lacklustre results, which also hung Dortmund’s chances of UCL qualification in balance. However, the make-shift manager redeemed things with a late surge, winning all of their last seven Bundesliga games, which ensured their place in the top four. Furthermore, Terzic led his side to the DFB Pokal trophy to bring a strong conclusion to the season. Fans would soon embrace Marco Rose, but Terzic will be remembered as the manager who led Dortmund to the third position.

Haaland swaps shirt with the referee

On what turned out to be a beautiful moment of Bundesliga in the weekend, Haaland was seen swapping his shirt with soon-to-be retiring referee Manuel Grafe after the game against Bayer Leverkusen.
