Elche

Elche will look to continue their impressive start to the year when they host La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey this Thursday.

The hosts are unbeaten in 2022, winning three of their opening four games (D1) while keeping clean sheets in two.

Their last game was a 1-0 over Villareal which followed a 2-1 win over Espanyol and another 2-1 win over Almeria in their last Copa del Rey tie.

With three wins from their last three games, they will come into this tie full of confidence and will be desperate to pull off one of the biggest shocks in Copa del Rey history by winning this game.

Possible Elche starting line-ups

Edgar Badia; Johan Mojica, Enzo Roco, Diego Gonzalez, Helibelton Palacios; Gerard Gumbau, Omar Mascarell, Pere Milla, Fidel; Lucas Perez, Lucas Boye.

Injured: None

Doubtful: Kiko Casilla, Gonzalo Verdu, Pedro Bigas

Suspended: None

Real Madrid

Real Madrid will look to extend their stay in the Copa del Rey when they travel to Elche on Thursday.

The visitors won their first trophy of the season last week as they beat Athletic Bilbao 2-0 in the Spanish Supercup final in Riyadh, thanks to goals from Luka Modric and Karim Benzema.

The win was their fourth win on the bounce and highlighted the serious form. Los Blancos are currently on. Apart from a shocking 1-0 loss to Getafe on 2nd January, Carlo Ancelloti’s men have not tasted defeat since a 2-1 loss to Espanyol in September last year. In the 20 games they have played since then, they have won 17, drawn two and lost just one.

Such a form puts them outright favourites for a win here while their six-game-winning run against Elche will give them the confidence needed to win on this occasion.

Possible Real Madrid starting line-ups

Thibaut Courtois; Lucas Vasquez, Nacho, Jesus Vallejo, Marcelo; Eduardo Camavinga, Isco, Federico Valverde; Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Rodrygo.

Injured: Dani Carvajal, Marco Asensio, Mariano Diaz, Gareth Bale

Doubtful: None

Suspended: Eder Militao

Prediction

Elche 1-4 Real Madrid
