The official trailer of the much-anticipated documentary has been unveiled by Filmsharks teaming up with Variety.
Argentina’s Filmsharks Company has bought the worldwide sales rights for the documentary ” The Death of God”, an ode to legendary footballer Diego Maradona, who passed away last November.
Maradona’s death left the footballing fraternity devastated however the Argentine has left behind a legacy, which will be forever celebrated.
Upon buying the rights for the much-anticipated documentary, Filmsharks Guido Rud said,
“After a fierce bidding war, we are thrilled to have closed this deal on such a powerful, untold story,” said FilmSharks’ Guido Rud. “It’s a remarkable addition to our Berlin lineup,” he noted, adding that he’ll be showing some footage from the doc during EFM. “The Death of God” (“La Muerte de Dios”) is now in post and will be ready for delivery by the second quarter of this year.
The Death of God is written and directed by Kasanzew and the documentary recounts the events of Maradona’s life which shaped him as one of the polarising figures yet revered by many.
The director Kasanzew also offered his thoughts on the documentary.
“For me it was very painful to watch my native country and colleagues idolize a man who clearly had no self-control and caused a lot of people embarrassment,”
For the past years, I have been obsessed with his life and the message I would send to the world can only be described as bittersweet.”
