Latest Spurs updates: striker set for medical, Skriniar update

Carlos Vinicius to undergo medical

Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius will undergo his medical with Tottenham after agreeing a new deal. Spurs have reportedly agreed over a season-long loan for Benfica striker with an option to make the transfer a permanent one for 36m pounds. The Brazilian striker will have his medical with Spurs on Friday.

Jose Mourinho was desperate to add a new striker as a deputy for Harry Kane before the end of the transfer window. Vinicius, 25, had enjoyed a productive season with Benfica last term, racking up 24 goals and 13 assists in all competitions. It remains to be seen how Mourinho uses him this season; whether he would deploy Kane and Vinicius in the same line-up or opt to use the latter as a back-up option.

Milan Skriniar update

Tottenham have handed a huge blow in the pursuit of Milan Skriniar as Inter Sporting director Piero Ausilio has insisted that the defender is not for sale.

Ausilio said, “The transfer market is still open for a few more days.”

“We’ve brought in those we want and in fact have a few in excess. I said the other day there has been contact for Skriniar, we did not receive any particularly impressive offers and he is not for sale.”

Skriniar has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs in recent weeks, with Jose Mourinho keen to sign a centre-back in the current transfer window.
