Chelsea and Barcelona target Kalidou Koulibaly speaking to Juventus

Manchester United agreed Kalidou Koulibaly's £64m transfer deal

Chelsea and Barcelona transfer target Kalidou Koulibaly is reportedly being spoken to by Juventus, who are also desperate to sign him.

The Napoli centre-back is keen on leaving Naples this summer and has made his intentions known to the club. Several European clubs have made their desire to sign him known, but Chelsea and Barcelona are leading the chase for his signature.

But going by new reports, Juventus have moved ahead of the queue and have already opened talks with the defender’s representatives.

This is according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, who claims that the Serie A side opened talks with Koulibaly’s agent on Wednesday evening.

The Old Lady are looking to bring in an experienced defender, having already lost the legendary defender Giorgio Chiellini this summer. They are also looking to find a replacement for Matthijs de Ligt, who is reportedly keen on moving to Chelsea this summer.

And so, they have identified the 30-year-old as an experienced option to cover for the hole in their defence. The Senegalese will come at a cheaper cost than most other defenders, given that he is into the final year of his contract in Naples.

However, according to Tuttosport in Italy via Futbol Espana, Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis wants €40m for Koulibaly, a price that Juventus considers too high for a player entering his twilight years. This has given the likes of Chelsea and Barcelona the hope that they can still seal a deal for the veteran defender.
