Giroud, only next to Lewandowski, Messi in European goal-scorer list during last 3-seasons

Olivier Giroud's European exploits should force Lampard to reconsider his Chelsea role.

Olivier Giroud-Chelsea

Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud produced a scintillating display against Sevilla in the Champions League last night.

The French international managed to score four times against the Spanish outfit and he helped the Blues secure top spot in their group.

Only Robert Lewandowski and Lionel Messi have scored more European goals than the Chelsea striker in the last three seasons.

He has scored 26 European goals in the last three years and Lionel Messi is second in the standings with 18 goals.

The former Arsenal man has scored 16 goals in just 21 European games for Chelsea and Frank Lampard should seriously consider bringing him back to his starting lineup.

The 34-year-old striker has started just one Champions League game and he is yet to make a start in the Premier League.

Giroud is thought to be frustrated with his situation at the London club and recently his agent slammed Frank Lampard for the unfair treatment of the French international.

The Chelsea manager has chosen Tammy Abraham ahead of the French striker this season but Giroud’s current form will certainly give Lampard something to think about.

The 34-year-old has the quality and the experience to make a big difference to Chelsea’s attack and he deserves a bigger role in the side in the coming months.

Giroud would give Chelsea a new dimension in their attack. He is excellent at holding up the ball and his aerial presence is something that could prove to be vital in the tight games. His overall play is much more effective than Abraham, who is more of a finisher.
