Bologna 2-0 Lazio: Shock defeat dampens Lazio’s top four chances, Immobile misses penalty

Ciro Immobile-Lazio

Bologna picked up a 2-0 win over Lazio in the Italian Serie A earlier tonight.

Ibrahima Mbaye gave the home side their lead on the 19th minute and Nicola Sansone doubled the advantage on the 64th minute.

Bologna came into this game having failed to win four of their last five league matches and they will be delighted to have picked up all three points here.

The home side needed some confidence boost after their recent run of form and tonight’s win will certainly boost their morale.

Meanwhile, Lazio came into this game on the back of four wins in five league games and they were firm favourites to secure all three points here.

The visitors will be unhappy with their performance here and it will be interesting to see if they can bounce back strongly in their next outing.

The defeat tonight leaves Lazio 6th in the Italian League table and a win tonight could have taken them up to the third position.

Lazio were unbeaten in their last six matches against Bologna and the home side will be relieved to have broken their winless streak against Lazio.

The away side will be disappointed to have come away empty-handed from this game especially after they had the chance to reduce the deficit and get back into the game.

Ciro Immobile missed a penalty and it ended up proving costly for the visitors.

Bologna were outstanding at the back and they managed to convert the couple of chances they had tonight.

They deserved to win on the balance of play and Lazio can have no complaints with the result tonight. They will have to improve a lot in the coming months if they want to secure Champions League qualification for the next season.
