Messi wants Icardi sold

Paris Saint Germain striker Mauro Icardi has apparently fallen out with his compatriot Lionel Messi at the French Ligue 1 club and the Argentine superstar wants the striker sold.

Messi completed a free transfer to PSG earlier on in the summer and he has signed a two-year contract with the French giants.

According to El Nacional, Messi has a tense relationship with the former Inter Milan striker and their equation is starting to cause a divide in the PSG dressing room.

It will be interesting to see if the French outfit are prepared to cash in on icardi when the transfer window reopens in January.

The striker has been linked with an exit from Paris for months now and a return to the Italian league could be ideal for the player.

Icardi was one of the best goal scorers around Europe during his time at Inter Milan but he has struggled to replicate that format PSG cause of the lack of regular first-team football.

Pochettino lauds Icardi

Meanwhile, PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino has heaped praise on the Argentine striker and labelled him as a psychologically strong player.

Pochettino has also revealed that the striker good play against Marseille on Sunday night.

He said to Marca: “Mauro is a strong player psychologically. He is good and available to be part of the team.

“He has been training with us after the game against Leipzig and will be in the squad for tomorrow’s Classique. It is clear that the club are looking the player, from the president to the players. We are all there to help him at any time.”
