Die Borussen have picked up an important away win against Hoffenheim

Borussia Dortmund have picked up three points after their 1-0 win against Hoffenheim.

The first half saw neither teams score goals although Dortmund were far superior.

Lucian Favre’s men lacked the spark in the attacking third although youngsters Gio Reyna and Jadon Sancho did the creative work.

To resolve the issues, Dortmund made a double substitution in the final phase of the game, bringing in Erling Haaland and Marco Reus.

Dortmund broke the deadlock sooner after Reus scored the goal, with Haaland providing the assist.

The newly brought pair combined well to give their side the lead.

Haaland, the in-form striker, provided the threat Dortmund were missing throughout the game and the Norwegian was presented with more chances later.

However, the 20-year-old failed to convert any of those whilst he hit the crossbar once.

At the other end, Hoffenheim had a great chance to equalize but was to no avail. Christoph Baumgartner found himself ahead in a dangerous counter-attack from Hoffenheim, but he eventually found the hand of Yan Sommer with a weak shot.

Baumgartner had another chance from a set-piece in the dying seconds of the injury time, however, he couldn’t make the most of it.

Dortmund have gained their momentum with back to back wins after their defeat against Augsburg.

Meanwhile, Hoffenheim failed to upset Dortmund as they did against Bayern Munich weeks ago.
