Real Madrid 2-0 Osasuna: Militao, Casemiro on target as Los Blancos close in on La Liga summit

Casemiro-Real Madrid

Real Madrid picked up a morale-boosting 2-0 win over Osasuna in the Spanish League earlier tonight.

Goals from Eder Militao and Casemiro sealed a vital three points for the Spanish giants. They are now up to second in the League table, just two points adrift of league leaders Atletico Madrid.

After Barcelona’s shocking defeat to Granada in the midweek, Zidane’s side needed to pick up a win here in order to take control of the title race, and the Frenchman will be delighted with his team’s showing tonight.

Eder Militao

The Brazilian centre back has been in exceptional form since coming into the starting lineup due to injuries to Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos.

He continued to showcase his tremendous potential with another flawless performance against Osasuna tonight, and he capped it off with a brilliant goal as well.

The return of Eden Hazard

The Belgian has struggled to showcase his true quality since moving to Santiago Bernabeu mainly because of his consistent injury problems, but he looked back to his usual self tonight.

Despite not managing to get on the score sheet, Hazard was excellent for the 70 minutes he was on the pitch, and he managed to create quite a few chances for his teammates with his dribbling and intelligence.

Real Madrid rested vital players tonight, and they were utterly dependent on him for creativity tonight, and the former Chelsea man did not disappoint.

The decision to rest Kroos and Modric

Zidane decided to rest two of his best midfielders for tonight’s game, and his decision has paid dividends in the end. Los Blancos have picked up the three points despite their absence.

Real Madrid will be up against Chelsea in the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals in the midweek, and the two midfielders will be fresh and ready to influence the contest.
