Valencia will travel to Vitoria-Gasteiz this Sunday to face Alaves in another fixture of the 2021/22 La Liga season.

Venue: Estadio Mendizorrotza (Vitoria-Gasteiz)

Key Statistics

Alaves have won just one of their last eleven games in all competitions (D3, L7).

The hosts have lost two of their last seven home games (W2, D3).

Valencia have recorded just one clean-sheet league win on the road since the start of October 2020.

The visitors netted four goals in their most recent away match.

Each of Valencia’s last four La Liga away games against eventually relegated opposition have produced under 1.5 goals.

Alaves

Struggling Alaves will look to record just their fifth win of the season when they play Valencia on Sunday.

The hosts come into this game on the back of a 3-1 defeat at Elche.

The result leaves them entering the new week six points adrift of a safe spot, having also played a game more than 17th-placed Mallorca.

Their current points-per-game tally puts them on course for just 28 points – significantly below the 39 they recorded during the club’s last relegation season (2005/06).

The hosts look certain to drop to the lower division this season, given how poorly they are performing. Since the November international break, they have not won any game (D4, L7).

Possible Alaves starting line-up

Fernando Pacheco; Naheul Tenaglia, Victor Laguardia, Florian Lejeune, Ruben Duarte; Jason, Tomas Pina, Pete Pons, Luis Rioja; Joselu, John Guidetti.

Injured: Ximo Navarro

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None

Valencia

Valencia extended their unbeaten run in all competitions to three games following a 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey in midweek (W1, D2).

The visitors have been one of the most disappointing teams in La Liga this year and are coming into this round of games sitting in 12th place. However, they are a mere six points behind the top six and eight behind Barcelona in fourth place.

Their last league game was a 0-0 draw against Sociedad; their fifth league game without a victory (D2, L3) in the last five.

But given their record against their hosts, they should get back to winning ways here. Valencia are currently on a six-game unbeaten run versus Alavés (W3, D3) and will fancy their chances of extending that run here.

Possible Valencia starting line-up

Mamardashvili; Thierry Correira, Eray Comert, Mouctar Diakhaby, Jose Gaya; Foulquier, Soler, Ilaix Moriba; Bryan Gil, Goncalo Guedes, Duro.

Injured: Jasper Cillessen, Gabriel Paulista, Hugo Guillamon

Doubtful: None

Suspended: None
