Ansu Fati inspires Barcelona to a 4-0 win over Villarreal

Barcelona youngster Ansu Fati has been handed the legendary number 10 shirt after Lionel Messi left the club earlier this summer.

The six-time Ballon d’Or winner joined Paris Saint Germain on a free transfer and there have been constant speculations as to who would take over the iconic number 10 shirt this season.

The La Liga giants have now announced their decision to hand the jersey to the teenage forward.

Fati is undoubtedly one of the most exciting players around Europe right now and he’s regarded as one of the finest talents to come out of the La Masia Academy.

The youngster will be expected to follow in the footsteps of Lionel Messi in the coming years and it remains to be seen whether he can live up to the expectations and honour the number 10 shirt.

Messi has worn the shirt for the majority of his 21-year career at Camp Nou.

Fati has already made an incredible impression since exploding into the first-team scene at Barcelona.

The youngster was brought into the side back in 2019 and he has already made 42 appearances across all competitions for the Spanish outfit. Fati is also the youngest goalscorer in Barcelona’s history.

The teenage forward has recently returned to full training after nine months on the sidelines and he is expected to return to action after the international break.

The 18-year-old picked up a serious knee injury back in November 2020 and it will be interesting to see if he can recover fully and recapture his sharpness this season.
