Graeme Souness names the only Tottenham player who can start for Liverpool

Tottenham 1-1 Palace Spurs claimed sixth spot ahead of Wolves

Liverpool take on Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League later this week and Graeme Souness believes that the Reds will not be beaten easily by Jose Mourinho’s high flying Tottenham team.

The London club are at the top of the table right now and they will be full of confidence heading into this game. That said, Liverpool have the same number of points as well and they are second on goal difference.

Despite having a massive injury list this season, Jurgen Klopp’s team have somehow managed to keep up with their title challengers.

It will be interesting to see who comes out on top when the two teams meet later this week.

According to the former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness, Harry Kane is the only Tottenham player who would get into Liverpool’s starting line-up.

Although it sounds harsh, there is a certain degree of accuracy in what Souness has claimed.

Liverpool’s defensive unit is unmatched in the Premier League and they have an excellent midfield three as well. The likes of Van Dijk, Matip, Robertson, Alexander-Arnold, Alisson, Thiago, Fabinho and Wijnaldum are all better than the players Spurs have in their positions.

Roberto Firmino’s dip in form in the recent months gives Harry Kane the chance to break into their front three. Otherwise Liverpool are comfortably a better team in all other departments.

“Liverpool are the real deal in every department and Spurs are still a long way off that,” Souness told The Times.

“The only Spurs player who would get in Liverpool’s line-up is Kane, because Sadio Mane can do everything Son can, and will also go to war with you.

“I don’t see Liverpool getting mugged as easily as Arsenal did, though there is more chance of it happening without Virgil Van Dijk and Fabinho, their best defensive midfielder, in the back four.”
