Premier League giants Chelsea and Liverpool are keeping tabs on Newcastle United’s star man Allan Saint-Maximin. The two title contenders have had a contrasting transfer window in the summer, with the Blues forking out sumptuous amounts of cash to add new personnel.

Liverpool had a much quieter window with no offensive recruitment this season. As a result, Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently monitoring the situation of Saint-Maximin at St. James’ Park.

According to various sources in Italy, both English clubs are keen on adding the 24-year-old Frenchman to their ranks, with Saint-Maximin being the only sparkling aspect of an otherwise dull Newcastle side.

The uncapped France international has made five-goal contributions in six Premier League games so far. Although the Magpies have failed to secure a single win so far, the flashy dribbler has done his level best to provide for his team.

Italian publication CalcioMercato states that both Klopp and Thomas Tuchel are interested in bringing him to their respective clubs to bolster their attacking options.

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce is aware of the suitors that his best player is attracting. However, he has made his intention of keeping him clear, stating,

“Let’s hope he stays because he’s been a joy to watch this year, and he’s getting better, which is the most important thing.”

Last October, Saint-Maximin had put pen to paper on a bumper six-year deal, keeping him at Newcastle until 2026. With the Frenchman putting in some consistent performances, only time can tell whether he will fulfil his current contract or not.
