Granada

Granada will look to continue their mini-revival when they welcome Barcelona to their home stadium this weekend.

The hosts began the year with a goalless draw at Elche last time out. The result extended their unbeaten La Liga (LL) run to six matches (W3, D3) although they will also be disappointed with the result as they failed to take advantage of an extra player for nearly an entire half in the game.

However, they will come into this fixture with confidence on the back of three consecutive home wins.

The hosts are currently sitting in 13th, having taken 23 points so far this season. That total point tally is five points less than they did last season after 19 matches.

However, judging by their recent upturn in form, the hosts will fancy their chances of picking up more points at the end of this season than they did last time.

Possible Granada starting line-ups

Luis Maximiano; Quini, Domingos Duarte, Raul Torrente, Carlos Neva; Antonio Puertas, Luis Milla, Maxime Gonalons, Darwin Machis; Jorge Molina, Luis Suarez.

Injured: Neyder Lozano, Santiago Arias.

Doubtful: German Sanchez, Ruben Rochina and Alberto Soro

Suspended: None

Barcelona

Barcelona will look to build on their last two results when they travel to Granada this Saturday.

The Catalan giants followed up their 1-0 win over Mallorca last Sunday with another 2-1 win over Linares in the Copa del Rey last time out.

The Mallorca win extended their unbeaten run to four matches in the league while the Copa del Rey win made it five matches unbeaten for Xavi’s men.

Now they will be looking to extend that record and keep themselves within the Champions League places.

The visitors have won four of their last eight matches in La Liga and have the opportunity to go six games unbeaten for the first time since November 2020.

Overall, Barca have picked up an average of 1.63 points per league game since the beginning of the season. But recently, their form stats indicate that in the last eight league matches they have averaged 1.88 points per game, which is 15.3% higher than their current season’s average.

This stat shows that Xavi’s appointment is beginning to yield results for Barca. But the former Barcelona midfielder will know that a lot of work still has to be done and will be urging his side to pick up maximum points against this Granada side.

Possible Barcelona starting line-ups

Ter Stegen; Oscar Mingueza, Eric Garcia, Gerard Pique, Jodi Alba; Rigui Puig, Sergio Busquets, Nico; Ousmane Dembele, Luuk de Jong, Ferran Jutgla.

Doubtful: Ronald Araujo, Frenkie de Jong, Samuel Umtiti, Clement Lenglet, Abde Ezzalzouli, Gavi, Alejandro Balde, Sergino Dest, Ansu Fati, Memphis Depay
