Haaland, Ronaldo, Mbappe and Zidane – Florentino Perez discusses Real Madrid future

Zidane eyeing Hazard-Haaland-Mbappe post 'BBC'

Fiorentina Perez has had his say on Madrid’s transfer rumours.

In a lengthy interview with El Chiringuito, Real Madrid President Florentino Perez responded to some of the transfer rumours.

Ronaldo return impossible

Juventus ace Cristiano Ronaldo has been heavily linked with a return to Spanish Capital, where he won three consecutive Champions League titles. However, Perez put an end to the rumours by stating that the Portuguese’s return doesn’t make any sense.

“Cristiano isn’t returning to Madrid, he gave us a lot but his return makes no sense. I love him, but it doesn’t make sense — he is a Juventus player.”

Mbappe boost

However, Perez gave an optimistic reply when he was asked about PSG ace Kylian Mbappe, who continues to be a top target for Los Blancos.

“I go out with a mask, nobody recognizes me and all the sudden I hear, ‘Presi, sign Mbappé!’, I tell them, ‘be calm’. It’s good, why lie? Madrid needs a change. We need to evolve. We have won a lot and we must recover the illusion, the desire to compete.”

Haaland links

Perez didn’t give a hint nor did he deny Haaland’s links at all and instead, the president spoke about the trivial  meeting with Dortmund star’s father Alf-Inge

“Haaland’s father visited our museum. It’s crazy, everyone always has the same reaction, they’ve never seen anything like that.”

Vinicius not for sale.

Perez was quick to dismiss Vinicius’ transfer rumours to PSG, stating that the Brazilian is untouchable. Vinicius has been in good nick of late, with his best performance coming against Liverpool in the Champions League quarter-finals.

“Vinicius is not for sale. No one can buy him, you cannot even touch him”

Uncertainty over Zidane’s future.

Perez gave a tentative answer about Zidane‘s future although he was in full praise of the Frenchman’s leadership.

“Zidane is the best coach we’ve ever had. Will he leave on his own at the end of the season? I don’t know – you never know with Zidane.”
