The Argentine wants to contribute as a technical secretary for the Catalan club in future.

Lionel Messi sealed a shock transfer to PSG in the summer after he was informed at the last minute he couldn’t continue at Barcelona due to La Liga’s salary cap restrictions.

The Argentine superstar was in tears during his final press conference with Barca, insisting that he would not be coming back to the Nou Camp.

Now, the 34-year-old has opened up on a potential return to Barca, stating that he would like to contribute to the Catalan club as a technical secretary.

Messi said (h/t Barca Blaugranes): “I always said that I would love to be able to help the club and be useful wherever I can. I would love to be a technical secretary at some point. I don’t know if it will be at Barcelona or not. Or if it will be otherwise.

“If there is a possibility, I would like to contribute again in what I can because it is the club that I love and I would love for it to continue to be good, to continue growing and to continue being one of the best in the world.”

Messi’s start to life at the French capital hasn’t gone as planned so far, as he is yet to open his account in Ligue 1, though he has scored three goals in the Champions League.

Nonetheless, the Argentine skipper is said to be the frontrunner to win this year’s Ballon d’Or following the prolific 2020/21 campaign where he led Barca to Copa del Rey title and La Albiceleste to Copa America glory.

Messi’s contract at PSG runs out in 2023 and there are rumours of him planning to spend his last years at MLS.
