Former Barcelona legend thinks that Messi would be seeking an exit from the Nou Camp next summer

Former Barcelona legend Luis Figo has claimed  that Lionel Messi  would leave the Nou Camp next summer.

There has been growing speculations over the Argentine’s future at Barca after the transfer drama last summer. The 33-year-old is nearing the end of his contract and he also looks unexcited about the contract renewal.

Amidst the speculations, Luis Figo has weighed in his thoughts, saying that Messi had already made up his mind to leave his long-time club.

Figo said, “If you don’t want to be somewhere, there’s nothing that can change your mind.

“I watched the thing with Messi and his attempt to leave Barcelona this summer like all football fans: expectantly and surprised.

“He’ll have his motives and reasons for making that decision. I don’t know what happened beforehand.”

The Portuguese legend also added that there will be no shortage of suitors for the six-time Ballon d’Or winner but he is uncertain about how the interested clubs would offer Messi a high salary amidst the pandemic.

“Every club wants to have a player like Messi, but then it depends on factors like the current financial situation at the club, the money he’ll cost the club in wages, the will of the player…

Manchester City and PSG have been touted as the possible destinations, with the former one looking the likeliest of all.

City are looking to agree a deal in principle for the Blaugrana skipper, who in return is said to be demanding both Sergio Aguero and Pep Guardiola to stay at Etihad
