The Spaniard’s contract runs out at the end of this season.
Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos has his contract running until the end of this season and the speculations have grown over his future as he is now free to negotiate with other clubs.
Although Zinedine Zidane wants Ramos to continue plying his trade for Los Blancos, the Spaniard looks to be not feeling the same way. Here are the few reasons which make the 34-year-old ponder over his future at Santiago Bernabeu.
Firstly, the new offer tabled by Los Blancos – extension for another season with similar wage – hasn’t satisfied Ramos as he expects increased salary given his importance to the side which has grown over the past two seasons.
Furthermore, the Spanish skipper is said to be not happy with the one-year deal as he wants to extend his stay at least for two seasons.
Meanwhile, Madrid find Ramos’ demands unrealistic due to the financial woes caused by the Coronavirus Pandemic notwithstanding how substantial the player is to the team.
PSG and a host of Premier League clubs – recently Manchester City are said to be monitoring the situation of the former Sevilla star as they look to recruit him as a free agent in the summer.
For Real Madrid, their defence has been often at fault this season and Ramos perhaps was the saving grace.
The defending La Liga Champions have been credited with an interest in Bayern Munich centre-back David Alaba, another centre-back who will become a free agent. The Austrian has been cited as the successor to Ramos should the Spaniard leave in the summer.
