Real Madrid are reportedly lining up a shock move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Heung-Min Son this summer.
The South Korea striker enjoyed a stellar season with Tottenham scoring 23 Premier League goals and winning the golden boot with Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.
According to Sportsmail, his form in the past season has attracted the interest of Spanish La Liga giants Real Madrid, who they claim are monitoring his situation in north London.
According to the report, the Champions League winners could enter the market for Son as they are looking to bolster their attacking options this summer after several departures.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side have already lost Both Gareth Bale and Isco this summer after their contracts expired, and there are suggestions that Marco Asensio could also leave.
And so, Los Blancos are being forced to look for attacking reinforcements to keep them competitive. Their number one target for the season was Kylian Mbappe, but the Frenchman remained at Paris Saint Germain.
With Son, Madrid believe they will have a world-class operator who will fit seamlessly into the attack that already has the deadly Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior.
But any deal for the 229-year-old will involve huge financial numbers as Tottenham will be unwilling to let go of a player who almost single-handedly gave them Champions League football last season.
Also, Son signed a new contract with Spurs last summer and has indicated he is committed to the Spurs.
“It’s like home, especially with the fans, the players, the staff,” Son said upon signing the deal last summer.
“There was no decision. It was easy. I’m so happy to be here and will be so glad to see the fans again soon.”
