Wolfsburg 0-0 Borussia Gladbach: Yann Sommer earns a point for the visitors

Yann Sommer-Borussia Gladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach were held to a goalless draw against Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga earlier tonight.

The home side have now extended their run of consecutive clean sheets to five games and they will be disappointed to have dropped two points here.

Wolfsburg were outstanding at the back and they could have easily snatched a winner tonight.

The likes of Yann Sommer produced countless world class saves to deny the likes of Kevin Mbabu throughout the game.

Gladbach needed some time to get into the contest and Alassane Plea came close to scoring late on in the first half.

Ridle Baku and Yannick Gerhardt had a chance to put the home side ahead in the first half as well.

The visitors improved in the second half and Lars Stindl forced an important save from Koen Casteels early on in the second half.

John Brooks had one of the best chances of the game but the Wolfsburg player headed on to the outside of Yann Sommer’s post.

Wolfsburg had plenty of chances to win the game tonight and they will have to improve on their finishing if they want to secure a respectable finish in the Bundesliga this year.

Meanwhile, Gladbach are now winless in their last 16 away trips to Wolfsburg and they will have to improve immensely if they want to break into the top four this season.

Wolfsburg are fourth in the League table with 39 points and they are level on points with Eintracht Frankfurt in the third place.
