Real Madrid star Asensio unhappy with the lack of playing time under Ancelotti

Carlo Ancelotti - Everton Manager

The Spaniard hasn’t started any of the games for Los Blancos this season.

Marco Asensio is set for talks with Real Madrid and manager Carlo Ancelotti over the lack of playing time this season, according to a report from Football Espana.

The Spaniard has apparently become disappointed with the lack of minutes this season, and he hasn’t started any of the games under Ancelotti.

The report also adds that Asensio was wanted by a host of clubs in the summer transfer window, but his intention was to prove his worth at the Spanish capital club.

The 25-year-old has been serving Los Blancos since his transfer from Mallorca in 2014. However, he hasn’t made any bigger impact due to injury concerns and inconsistencies.

Furthermore, Asensio was told by Ancelotti that he would be integral to his plans this season. As it is turning out, the Spaniard is still behind the likes of Eden Hazard and Gareth Bale in the pecking order.

The Spanish winger managed to score three goals towards the later stages of the last season as Los Blancos finished as runners up in La Liga.

Madrid are off to a blistering start to the new season as they are the current leaders of the La Liga table – 13 points in 4 games.

Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr have been receiving plaudits for their excellent displays, with both contributing largely to Real’s unbeaten run.

While Ancelotti recently said that he couldn’t afford to play Hazard continuously due to his fitness issues, Asensio will be hoping to make a statement if given the opportunity.
