Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is expected to sign a new contract with the Spanish club.

Despite being 35, Modric is one of the best players at the club and Real Madrid director Emilio Butragueno has hinted that the Spanish Giants might look to extend the Croatian stay at Santiago Bernabeu.

“There are players like Modric who make this sport better,” Butragueno is quoted by Marca.

“His pass to [Ferland] Mendy in the first half was a fine thing. It’s a luxury for us to have him.

“He’s given us so much; he’s still giving us so much and he’ll continue to do so.”

It will be interesting to see if Real Madrid can sort out the contract negotiations soon and tie up his future at the club.

Modric is in the twilight of his career right now but his experience and quality could still be priceless for the dressing room.

Meanwhile Real Madrid have sanctioned a loan move for Martin Odegaard to Arsenal and it seems that Isco might be handed another lifeline at Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid need creative depth in their side and easeful is now likely to stay until the end of the season.

Initially the midfielder was expected to leave during the winter transfer window and he was linked with the likes of Arsenal and Sevilla.

It will be interesting to see if he gets more game time after the departure of Odegaard and whether he can resurrect his career during the second half of the season.
