Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s miserable form continued on Tuesday as they were defeated by Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League.

The Spanish side were the second-best side throughout the contest and had goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois to thank for keeping the scoreline respectable. The Belgium number one saved a penalty from Lionel Messi and was immense throughout the game while Madrid struggled. But in the end, he was beaten by a spectacular solo goal from Kylian Mbappe.

In the Spanish La Liga Real Madrid have also flattered in recent times. Their last league outing saw them fail trouble their opponents in what was a goalless draw with Villareal.

The result means that they are now leading second-placed Sevilla with only four points.

After seeing his side’s big lead wiped out during his last spell at the club, Carlo Ancelotti will be desperate for his side to get back to winning ways here.

They will go into this tie as favourites and are backed up by a formidable home record which has seen them win nine of their last twelve home games in all competitions (D3).
