Real Madrid managed to pick up a 1-0 win away from home against Real Betis in La Liga earlier today but it was far from a convincing performance from Carlo Ancelotti’s men.

Daniel Carvajal scored the only goal of the game in the second half to secure all three points for the Spanish giants.

Here at Anytime football, we look at the three major talking points from tonight’s contest.

Lack of creativity in the midfield for Real Madrid

The Spanish outfit were missing the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos tonight and they were severely lacking in craft and imagination.

The likes of Isco and Valverde were brought into the starting lineup to provide some much needed creative spark alongside Casemiro but the two players struggled to provide ample service for the likes of Karim Benzema, Vinicius junior and Gareth Bale.

Desperate need of game-changers

Real Madrid are in desperate need of players who can change the course of a game after coming on as a substitute.

Ancelotti brought on the likes of Lucas Vasquez, Rodrygo and Eden Hazard to give Real Madrid some much needed attacking impetus but all three players failed to make any meaningful impact from the bench.

The Spanish outfit must look to bring in another quality attacker before the transfer window closes.

Plenty of positives for Real Betis

Despite the 1-0 defeat at home, Real Betis produced an impressive performance at both ends of the pitch. On another day they could have easily picked up a draw.

The home side had almost as many attempts from open play as Real Madrid and they were quite aggressive in their approach. Their aggression was evident as the hosts ended the game with five yellow cards across the 90 minutes.
