Valladolid 0-1 Real Madrid: Casemiro saves the day for injury-plagued Los Blancos

Casemiro-Real Madrid

Real Madrid picked up a narrow 1-0 win over Valladolid in the Spanish League earlier tonight.

The reigning champions came into this game needing a win and they managed to grind out a hard-fought victory.

Zinedine Zidane’s team were plagued with injuries coming into this game and the Frenchman will be delighted that his players have managed to get the job done.

The Spanish outfit were without nine first-team players due to injury issues and the Real Madrid manager had to call up six youngsters from the Castilla to make up the numbers.

Casemiro scored the only goal of the game in the 65th minute and Real Madrid have now managed to close the gap with the League leaders down to just three points.

Atletico Madrid were beaten 2-0 at home to Levante earlier and tonight’s win could prove to be vital for Real Madrid in the title race.

Real Valladolid will be disappointed to have crashed to a defeat after their impressive defensive performance in the first half.

They managed to contain Real Madrid’s attack quite comfortably up until the goal and the Spanish giants failed to register a single shot on target in the first half.

Belgian keeper Thibaut Courtois had to produce a couple of impressive saves from Ruben Alcaraz and Saidy Janko to keep his side in the game.

Casemiro had a chance to head his side ahead in the first half but he steered it wide. However, the Brazilian managed to get on the score sheet in the second half and that was enough to earn all three points from Real Madrid.
