Emirates Stadium-Arsenal

Arsenal have had an eventful transfer deadline day and the Gunners have managed to offload some of their fringe players.

Shkodran Mustafi joined Schalke

German international Shkodran Mustafi has joined Bundesliga side Schalke on a permanent transfer after his contract was terminated with the London club.

Mustafi had fallen down the pecking order at Arsenal and the Gunners were keen to offload him this month. it will be interesting to see if he can resurrect his career with a move back to Germany.

Mustafi to Schalke confirmed. Player is keen to leave and Arsenal happy to accept low fee to move him on. Expected to be completed imminently.

Maitland-Niles joins WBA

Meanwhile, Ainsley Maitland Niles has joined West Brom on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The talented young winger has been starved of regular game time at the London club and he will be hoping to hold down a regular starting berth with the Baggies now.

Maitland Niles will be hoping to cement his place in the England squad for Euro 2021 and the move to West Brom could do wonders for him.

Willock heads to Newcastle

In other news, talented young midfielder Joe Willock has moved to Newcastle United on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.

The midfielder has hardly had a look in, in the Premier League so far this season and he needed to leave the club in order to play more often.

Newcastle needed to improve their midfield options and Willock could prove to be a reasonable addition to their squad for the second half of the season.

#afc Neither Maitland-Niles’ loan to WBA, nor Joe Willock’s to Newcastle, contain options to make them permanent.
