Manchester United have been linked with a move for the Sporting Lisbon defender Nuno Mendes.
According to reports, Manchester City are keen on signing the player as well who has the same agent, who had earlier successfully dealt Bruno Fernandes transfer.
Apparently, Manchester United want to sign the talented young 18-year-old in a £52 million deal, and they have already made contact with the Portuguese outfit regarding Mendes signing.
They have been in touch with the player’s agent Miguel Pinho as well. Miguel Pinho is in Manchester to present Mendes to Manchester clubs.
The Red Devils have a quality full-back in Luke Shaw, and their interest in Mendes is quite surprising. The youngster needs to join a club where he can play regular first-team football, and Manchester United might not be able to provide him with that platform, especially with so and Telles at the club.
It would be interesting to see if they can convince the youngster to take up a bit-part role at Old Trafford next season.
Mendes is highly talented, and he has a big future ahead of him. Joining a club where he might not be starting every week could hamper his development.
It is a similar scenario with Manchester City as well, and the Etihad outfit are well stocked with full-backs. Mendes might struggle to play every week unless Benjamin Mendy and Oleksandr Zinchenko are sold.
It will be interesting to see where new Mendes ends up eventually.
